Ahhhhh yes….. It’s that time again; the updating the phone time. I have had my KRZR  since they were the new thing. Now it is time for it to give up the ghost and make way for the LG Dare. With this phone I can keep up with my social networking life on the phone. Powerful little tool it is!  I think it will help to manage my life as I learn to best utilize the tools contained within. I am on the 3rd day of my 30 day “test drive.”  I am going to put it and me……lol through all the paces this next couple of weeks. So far so good.

until laterz…..

Good morning…. Yawn……. Update, such a delicate balance between what feels good and when the meds are not doing their thing. By not taking MTX (methotrexate) for about 3 1/2 weeks, was long enough to show effects. First thing I noticed was swelling behind knees, then stiffness. This was on a day when the Prednisone intake was only 1 pill and I had not taken it first thing that morning. Later on I felt better. I am now back on MTX, but at only 4 pills a week (lowest dose ever.) This morning I felt very stiff, neck, knees and elbows …….. grrrrr….. We will overcome eventually….. lol

When I saw this video this evening, I was blown away. Someone tried to describe it to me the other day, but it is one that has to be seen to really get the full feeling. Way to go NICK!

This video captures the spirit of taking charge of your life more than any other I have seen. It demonstrates how important it is to live your life with a purpose! I hope you enjoy it.

I have recovered enough now to be able to use some of my tools. One of them is a video that I have called Tai Chi for Seniors. I have been aware of the instructor in the videos for nearly 20 years now. I purchased one of his VHS format videos in 1991 and I still have it! Mark is a very caring person that chooses to help others with his style of Tai Chi. His exercises and form movements are geared to people who are not able to do more advanced forms of Tai Chi. He takes time and displays a very personal, caring attitude. You can check him out at: http://www.taichiforseniorsvideo.com/

I really enjoy the peaceful feeling I get when working with his Chi Kung style of Tai Chi.

Wow, more and more I hear about  social networking sites that I had not heard of. I cannot believe how many there are. I do not know if I am “In” or “Out” …….. lol One thing I am experiencing though is an influx of wonderful useful information. One site I came across recently is : http://www.blogtalkradio.com/ExceptionalExperts/2008/12/18/exceptional-experts-features-chris-brogan

This particular link is about a social media expert Chris Brogan. The thing that impressed me about his philosophy of life is that it is to make sure no matter what you do, you help people. I have always felt this way and made sure it was reflected in my coaching and other businesses. The thing I like about this media, is since it is radio you are able to just listen to it and are able to do other things at the same time. Works for me…. lol I love to multi-task. Again I say I am grateful for having my energy back!

Wow, last night I spent hours catching up on my social networking sites that I was beginning to work with before the illness struck. At first I was overwhelmed with all the different sites. However, I took my own coaching advice and started working with just a couple of sites that I could handle and know I can build from there. It is great to feel the creative juices flowing again! I am now working with Facebook, Ryze, Twitter, MySpace and Youtube. I am going to be adding much more content on this site which will include links to the social networking sites.

Here it is,  another new year to be able to learn and grow! My primary goal this year is to mold my mind and body to be the best that it can be. Last year tore it up pretty good, so I will rebuild little by little. Another of my  goals is to bring joy to others in my life!

The Ilness: I will make references to this term. For me it means the combination of two things: Rheumatoid Arthritis and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. Both of these are auto immune diseases and frequently one brings on the other. Rheumatoid Arthritis is pretty self explanitory, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis however is much less common, especially for a man. It is having extreme hypo (low) thyroid. For me, the symptoms came in many forms. I had no energy, loss of decreased mental function (half out of it) , edema in the ankles and lower legs, always being cold, VERY weak, very hard to sleep, dry skin. As the year went on, I got weaker and weaker and lost 12 pounds. My doctor said I was less than a month away from him hospitalizing me. People very close to me were worried that I might die. Finally we did a specific blood test (TSH: result 190 – normal around 2.0 ) and found that I had Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. AT LAST, an answer. We then had a direction to go in. With proper doses of synthroid, we got the thyroid under control Next came the R/A, and again proper doses of meds keeping it under control. Six months later and I am again begining to feel somewhat more normal. Now to begin working on regaining muscle mass. I have gained 10 pounds back, but am seeking to put on another 10 or 15 pounds in muscle mass.

I have learned many things through this ordeal. I do not now take for granted many small things I could not do for the better part of a year. I sleep wonderfully now and cherish my sleep. I can now step into a bathtub with out thinking about each motion and feeling the pain, button a shirt, PUT ON MY PANTS, put on a shirt or a jacket, WALK, type on computer, be able to be on the ground (and get up), play my Native American Flute, just to name a few. For the better part of a year, the most comfortable position for me, was flat on my back on the bed. I am very thankful for each day now and frequently reflect on how bad it was. I can now do my very favorite thing: RIDE MY MOTORCYCLE …. when it is not snowing of course…. lol I want to give a special THANK YOU to my friends and family who stuck by me and helped me during this last year. Happy New Year to Me!

To my loyal clients and friends, I give an apology and explanation. Though I did not “check out”, I had my doctor and friends quite concerned. I was told by my doctor that I was less than a month away from being hospitalized. For the past year I have been under the effect of two conditions. The first is Rheumatoid Arthritis which brought on Hashimoto’s disease (extreme low thyroid). When my TSH level reported in at 190, my doctor was pleased. Why would you ask would he be pleased when a normal TSH level is between .2 – 4.0 ? The reason is, he now knew what was going on with me. What he did not know at that time, was that I also had R/A. I am doing very well now with meds for both conditions. Imagine me, who did not even take an aspirin prior to this, being on up to 11 pills and 4 supplements a day at times. Most often it is 4 pills and 4 supplements. This is just a quick note to let all know: ” I am back for good. “
